Petrel 28 was my second project as a boat designer, after idea19, and the first one that I developed totally from scatch.
We sold several plans, mostly in Italy, three boats were launched and I know for sure that at least two of them are still sailing after about 18 years, and they have crunched a good number of miles in the while.
As a boat designer sometimes looking back to old project is a risky business. in certain case you are not satisfied anymore by your past works, with the actual experience you would have changed several technical solutions or design choices.
I have to admit that after 18 years from the first boat being built, Petrel 28 has aged like a very fine wine. I am totally satisfied by the project, I consider it perfectly balanced for a mediterranean cruising sailboat.
This is why in December I decided to make an upgrade to building plans; nothing dramatic, just several minor modifications and a general graphic update to keep them aligned with the standard of more recent plans. I also spend a couple of days to update the 3d model and make new rendered images, that you can see here in the gallery above.
